22-07-10 Sunday ride to Logan Lake be 564km
The ride started from McDonalds at 8:00 am as always, today with four bikes and riders. One was Ken who has been busy with work and his holiday place in Maple Falls. Others were George, Stan, Jim, a guest. The four of us rode Hwy 1 to the turnoff to Agassiz and the rode Hwy 7 to Hope where we were planning on meeting three others. Brian, Louis, and Wayne. But there was another surprize, past member Pat Maclou was also there for a short visit with us. Great to see you Pat thanks for showing up. We Left Langley wondering if the dark clouds above were going to empty their load of rain drops on us. But once again the sun god once again helped us out and overpowered the rain gods and shone upon us most of the remaining day. Hwy 5 to Coldwater road into Merritt were we fueled up and stopped in at the Subway to purchase lunch for our planned picnic at Maggs Park in Logan Lake.
As we passed Eight mile road on Hwy 97 C where I thought of Cliff who had an incident here earlier this year doing the same ride we did today. When we arrived at Maggs Park in Logan Lake a good friend and past member, Gary Cameron was waiting for us just like we had arranged. I think he was impressed that we actually got there at the time we said we would. Great to see Gary and we had a good visit with him. This ride was planned as the short version of the Logan Like ride and was going to return home the way we came up (fastest route) But after a suggestion that we go home via Ashcroft and the Fraser Canyon and a unanimous vote, that is what we did. Good weather with a high of 27. Roads good, traffic good all the way back to Hope and a great bunch of guys to ride with where we had the traditional Ice cream stop at DQ. The traffic on Hwy 1 home from hope was very heavy for those of us that chose that route.
