18-08-19 Ride to Darcy BC 570 km

Nine bikes met at McDonald’s for this ride to Darcy BC with very smoky atmosphere as a result of the many  forest fires in this province this summer.  Bob V led us straight up 200th st to Highway 1 to the first stop at West View Dr. in North Vancouver where two more members joined the ride. Now eleven bikes with twelve people we headed for Tim Horton’s in Squamish for a coffee as we had no breakfast stop on this  ride. It was very smoky as we passed through Whistler  on to Pemberton where we stopped for fuel. Here the two Chilliwack guys decided to leave  the group and go home through Lillooet. Another 50 km to Darcy and one end of Anderson Lake. This is a beautiful lake as I remember it from our last visit here about 4 years ago. But this year because of all the smoke we couldn’t see anything past 100 meters. After a short walk to the lake and back to the bikes and some chatting we headed back to Pemberton for lunch. The plan was to eat at Grims Gourmet and Deli, but it was closed so we went to a place named The Pony.  The food was very good as well as the service. Now on the way home the smoke was thicker then before until we got past Whistler and it got less as we got closer to home,  But traffic was very slow because of the two lanes merging into one at a couple of places’ Pictutres
